About the U.S. Hot Air Balloon Team
A World Class, Full-Service Hot Air Ballooning Company
Do I need to sign a release?
Everyone that flies with us is required to sign a release of reliability. Anyone under the age of 18 is required to have a parent or guardian co-sign their release. These releases are provided for you at the field to complete before your flight, but you can preview or print here. Download Release Form
- When are the flights available?
We offer balloon rides year-round (weather dependent), but our primary season with a more routine schedule is April through November. Sunrise and sunset flights occur daily from launch points in southeastern Pennsylvania. 3-day and 5-day PA Adventure Tours are coordinated to fit your schedule.
- What is involved in the hot air balloon ride?
What makes our hot air balloon flights so memorable is that they are much more than just the ride itself. If you so wish, you are encouraged to take part in the inflation of the balloon. Learn ballooning insight from the experts themselves from flight launch to landing. We also provide a champagne toast and refreshments. Transportation back to the launch site is included. Don’t forget to bring your camera so we can catch your memories on film!
- How long is the whole ballooning experience?
The entire experience is 2 1/2 – 3 hours from start to finish, including hands-on launch, an hour-long flight, refreshments and transport.
- How many people can take a balloon ride at one time?
A typical flight will include 4-10 people. However, if you are interested in a private, romantic flight, we offer couples-only flights as well.
- What should I wear?
Dress to be comfortable as you would if you were on the ground depending upon the day’s weather conditions. Because a hot air balloon travels at the same speed as the air around it, wind chill factors are eliminated, so if anything, it is typically a bit warmer in the balloon. Do not overdress, particularly in the summer.
- Are there age restrictions or height requirements for the balloon rides?
Balloon riders must be of age 6 and up. There are no height requirements.
- What is your policy on flying with medical conditions and/or disabilities?
Our policy is this: if you’re comfortable, we’re comfortable. You should be of sound mental and physical condition, and you will be required to sign a waiver of release indicating as such before boarding the balloon. Women who are pregnant are not permitted to take balloon rides.
We are the only hot air balloon company on the east coast to offer flights that are wheelchair accessible. Please remember to call in advance to make these special arrangements.
- Can I just show up for a flight or do I need to make reservations?
We recommend you call a week to 10 days in advance; however, never hesitate to call with less notice because there is a good chance there may be space available on your desired flight. Keep in mind as you make plans that the most heavily-booked time of year is mid-September through mid-November, and the most popular flight time is Saturday’s Sunset Flights.
- What is your policy on balloon rides if weather conditions are poor?
We don’t fly in stormy weather or rain, and you will be made aware of any cancellations when you call in to confirm your flight beforehand. If a cancellation does occur, you will have three options:
Reschedule your balloon flight.
Request a refund — See terms & conditions
Use your ticket toward a balloon ride anywhere in the U.S. with any of our affiliates.
- What are your customer service hours of operation?
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and in May through November, during the weekends as well. We’re very available and approachable.
- Is there a risk of motion sickness while airborne in the balloon?
No. Once the balloon leaves the ground, it is moving at the same speed as the environment. There is no feeling of motion. The sensation of ballooning, is the absence of sensation.
